The Spirit of Esprit

Susie Russell was a 21 year old aspiring fashion designer who stopped to offer hitchhiker, Douglas Tompkins, a ride in California in 1964. Six months later they were married and began working together to create and sell their first fashion line. From their San Francisco apartment and the back of their station wagon, they began the journey that would lead to the creation of one of the world's most recognised lifestyle brands, Esprit. The famous triple-bar 'E' logo, launched the brand into the big time in 1978 and, since then, Esprit has been unstoppable!

With a reputation for creating quality, affordable and comfortable apparel, the Esprit brand puts lifestyle at the heart of its philosophy. Esprit has launched some memorable campaigns over the decades including the famous 1984 'Real People' campaign featuring Esprit employees as the models (and in later campaigns real customers were the models). The Bodywear Collection

Bodywear was launched in 2008 and was heralded by women everywhere as a long-overdue, much-anticipated addition to the Esprit apparel collections.
