Men's Underwear Trends

Believe it or not, men's underwear experiences trends just like women's underwear. Most men seem to think that their choices are men's boxers or men's briefs and don't do any research to discover this is not the case. Sure, there may also be the occasional dalliance with thongs but generally, men are clueless when it comes to underwear trends.

Shaping Underwear for Men

Shaping underwear for men threatened to breakthrough last year but never did. However, it will be making another appearance in the coming months. Shaping underwear makes men seem thinner. Even guys sometimes feel less than sexy and would appreciate garments that make them appear to be in shape, even when they haven't had time to workout as hard as they would like. Women already have many clothing options such as Spanx. Shaping underwear could be men's answer. This also includes vests with wide waistbands which are designed to keep your midsection looking trim. Men are asking for this type of underwear and companies are finally starting to listen. Expect an explosion in this area in the near future.

Briefs Are Making a Comeback

Amazingly, it seems that briefs are making something of a comeback. This is a surprising trend because boxers have been the main underwear choice for men during the last number of years. Briefs such as the classic tighty whiteys' were ridiculed for being too tight. This made for many uncomfortable evenings and can even restrict sperm production. Yet briefs are available in a range of styles and perhaps guys will change their mind once they have experienced them. Large brands will launch a campaign for briefs with more comfortable designs likely.

Southern hemisphere countries are leading the way in underwear production. Australian companies are enjoying a golden age and South African companies are set to follow suit. Organizations such as Plumbum and Bone Wear are releasing innovative new products with an emphasis on fusing style with comfort. South Africa is certainly on the threshold of entering the underwear and swimwear market in a big way.

Men's Underwear Comes in Many Colours

Traditionally, men's underwear came in white and dark colours. The last few years has seen conventional wisdom cast aside in favour of brighter colours. The distinctly non-masculine colour of pink has gained in popularity in recent times with other summer colours such as yellow, purple and green set to dominate underwear proceedings. Changing colours are just one sign that the old-fashioned boxer shorts could be in danger of losing their throne as the most sought after underwear item.
