Men's Underwear - Ben Sherman

Ben Sherman shirts are known as "Bennies" the world over. His signature button-downs were first produced in 1963 and today the Ben Sherman name is known as the apparel brand that is timeless because of its ties with youth culture, music and fashion across several decades. Ben Sherman underwear and socks collections are of the age - classic and cool quality fashion styles that young men around the world embrace with gusto. The Chillwear range is 100% cotton and just what it says it is - that's how cool wearing Ben Sherman still is, nearly 50 years after the first guy wore the very first "Bennie"!

The Ben Sherman Look

Arthur Benjamin Sugarman began producing his iconic button-down shirts in 1963 in Brighton, UK, having returned from a trip to the USA and been inspired by the Ivy League button-down styles popular with young American college guys at the time.

Ben Sherman, as he became known, opened his first showroom in London's fashion-trendy Carnaby Street in 1964. This was the street were every hip young thing could browse the very latest fashions of the Swinging Sixties and at Ben Sherman's store, the cool self-styled Mods discovered "Bennies" and co-opted the button-downs for their 'look'.

Fusing Music & Fashion

In 1975, punk rock came to town and London's punks gravitated towards the checked Bennies. The Jam's Paul Weller was a huge Bennies fan and so sartorially Mod-Revivalist splendid was he that he earned the moniker "The Modfather". (Interesting sidenote: Weller designed a limited edition Ben Sherman shirt in 2007, inspired by his favourite "Bennies" from the 60s).

In 1983 the same thing happened with ska aficionados who were all wearing the 80s-style button-downs and, again, in 1993 when Brit Pop ruled the airwaves and the likes of Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis, Damon Albarn of Blur and Richard Ashcroft of The Verve, among many other Brit musicians, began sporting Bennies.

David Bowie is a huge Bennies fan.

New Generation Cool for the Times

The Chillwear Boxers are made from 100% cotton and are styled to feel relaxed and comfortable, loose-fitting around the legs for easy chilling and in the Ben Sherman signature check . The classically gift-boxed Ben Sherman Argyle Sock Sets are also 100% cotton so not only are they 'Mod'-ern and stylish, they're also breathable and comfortable.

For years the Ben Sherman brand has been at the forefront of UK fashion and is synonymous with the London look. Such is the global appeal of the brand that its links with youth fashion and music culture over the decades has never diminished, in fact it seems that Ben Sherman grows in cool with every new generation and every new wave of music.
